Paragraph 1: The Purpose Driven Hook
- Begin with a specific scene where you encountered a real world problem related to agriculture, sustainability, or the life sciences.
- Place the reader directly in the moment of discovery, observation, or frustration. It is best to focus on a tangible issue like local food insecurity, ecosystem degradation, or a biological puzzle.
- Do not open with broad, philosophical statements about saving the planet or generic childhood memories.
Paragraph 2: Structured Exploration
- Outline the steps you took to explore this problem further on your own.
- Show what independent research you conducted, what texts you read, or what community leaders you spoke with to understand the science behind the issue.
- Best to demonstrate your intrinsic motivation to learn outside the classroom. Avoid simply listing your high school transcript or standard homework assignments as proof of your curiosity.
